Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream
Strawberry shortcake is a famous dessert. Now you can use it in ice cream, combined with fresh strawberries. Begin by assembling the following:
- One pound of fresh strawberries, diced (3 cups)
- Halved fresh strawberries
- Two cups of whole milk
- Two cups of heavy whipping cream
- One fourth of a teaspoon of kosher salt
- Three cups of cubed (1/2-in. pieces) angel food cake
- Two teaspoons of vanilla extract
- One and one fourth cups of granulated sugar, divided
Firstly, put the milk, vanilla, whipping cream, 3/4 of sugar, and salt in a saucepan. Then bring this to a simmer of medium heat. Transfer the mixture to a medium-sized bowl. Chill in the fridge for two to 24 hours.
Secondly, preheat the oven to 275 degrees and spread the cake pieces in a baking dish. You will bake this for about 30 minutes. Then let it cool for 15 minutes and crumble it. In the third step, put the strawberries and the rest of the sugar in a medium saucepan and bring it to a boil. You will want to refrigerate this mixture for at least 30 minutes. Fourthly, pour the chilled milk mixture into an ice cream maker. Then spoon half of the ice cream into the container and half of the strawberry sauce over the ice cream. Sprinkle this with half of the cake crumbles. Lastly, freeze this until it is firm.
