Golfing sometimes gets a bad rap. In movies and on TV, you’ll often see the inattentive CEO or absent husband swinging away on the green. But don’t let Hollywood make you feel guilty about your favorite pastime. Register for one of these New Jersey golf outings, and help a good cause while you work on your handicap.
Passaic County Community College Foundation
Support the Passaic County Community College Foundation on Wednesday, Oct. 4 for its 15th Annual Golf Outing. It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned golf pro or just a newbie, everyone is welcome at this charitable event. Join the PCC Foundation at Black Bear Golf Club in Franklin, New Jersey.
Registration for the scramble begins at 10:45 a.m. and is accompanied by a BBQ lunch. Shotgun start is at 12:30 p.m. After the clubs are put away, there will be a cocktail reception in the clubhouse at 5 p.m., followed by dinner and an awards presentation at 6 p.m. There will be a 50/50 prize raffle that evening as well.
Awards include Longest Drive for Men & Women, Closets to the Pin, and team prizes for 1st, 2nd, and “Most Honest” Low Gross Score. The hole-in-one prize is sponsored by Garden State Honda.
All proceeds from the event will go directly toward supporting student scholarships. By participating, you’re helping a student pursue the dream of education.
Boys and Girls Club of Clifton
The Boys and Girls Club of Clifton will host its 46th Annual Golf Tournament at Upper Montclair Country Club on Monday, Oct. 23. This course has held more professional golf tournaments than anywhere else in New Jersey, so you know you’re getting prime playing turf.
The cost per player is $495, with all proceeds from the event going directly to programs that benefit the children of the Boys and Girls Club of Clifton.
The player fee includes green fees, golf carts, and caddy fees. You’ll also enjoy brunch at 10:30 a.m., a 4:45 p.m. cocktail reception on the terrace, and an awards dinner at 5:45 p.m. The club will provide an open bar from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., hors-d’oeuvres, and beer and wine during dinner.
The 18-hole event begins with a shotgun start at noon. Prizes include Low Gross, Low Net, Calloway, Putting, Accuracy Drive, Closet to the Pin, and Hole-in-One.
