Explore a Park
New Jersey offers more than 130 miles of coastline, dense forests, mountains, waterfalls, and more. Located throughout the state are picturesque landscapes that are protected and preserved by state and national parks. These parks include Allaire State Park, which is famous for being home to the historic ironmaking town, Allaire Village; Barnegat Lighthouse State Park, which is located on the northern tip of Long Beach Island in Ocean County, is famous for the Barnegat Lighthouse; and Bass River State Forest, which is based around 67-acre Lake Absegami, provides a range of recreational activities like hiking and mountain biking, among others. With thousands of acres of state and national parks to choose from in New Jersey, there is something for everyone.
Visit a Local Ice Cream Shop
There is an abundance of quaint ice cream shops located throughout the state. You can dip your toe in by starting at Ice Cream Charlie’s in Rutherford for some scoops of cannoli, frozen hot chocolate, and Rice Krispy. You can then hit up Hoffman’s Ice Cream, which is a New Jersey institution. Further favorites include Applegate Farm, Magic Fountain, The Bent Spoon, Jersey Freeze, and more.

Hit The Water
New Jersey offers a range of water activities, such as white water rafting, kayaking, tubing, whale and dolphin watching, and much more. You can hit the rapids at Delaware River Tubing, take dolphin and nature cruises with Miss Avalon Dolphin and Nature Cruises, or take a 12-hour excursion with Utsch’s Marina. If you want to encounter whales and other wildlife, you can venture out into open water with Cape May Whale Watcher, The Starlight Fleet, Atlantic City Cruises, among others.
