Stop worrying about feeling guilty when driving your SUV around New Jersey. Some drivers are hesitant to choose an SUV because of their gas-guzzling reputation, but according to Cars.com, the Honda CR-V is one of a few SUVs that you can drive without any guilt whatsoever.
Qualifying as Guilt Free
To qualify as being guilt-free, an SUV had to get at least 25 mpg combined according to the EPA. At the same time, it needed to provide enough space to be truly useful, including 60 cubic feet or more of cargo space. This second requirement meant that the Honda HR-V didn’t get included on the list despite having excellent fuel economy. In other words, you shouldn’t feel guilty driving the HR-V either, but the CR-V will be more useful for those who need more cargo space.
Where the CR-V Stands
On the list of guilt-free SUVs, the Honda CR-V nabbed fourth place, only being beaten by hybrids or models with diesel engines. In other words, Cars.com decided that the CR-V is the gas-run SUV with the least guilt. To give you an idea of how it faired with the criteria, the Honda CR-V gives you up to 70.9 cubic feet of cargo space. It gives you 26 mpg* in the city, 33 mpg* on the highway, and 29 mpg* combined when paired with front-wheel drive, the version Cars.com determined to be guilt-free. The website also praised the CR-V for having a second row that is among the easiest to fold, letting you easily access the full cargo area.
