Instant Pot Rice Will Enhance Your Dinners In A Snap

Steamed Rice

Did you know you don’t need a rice cooker to make the perfect rice? You need a pressure cooker to make rice in 15 minutes. It takes 45 minutes to make rice in most rice cookers, so this is a huge time saver as well. Find out how to make Instant Pot rice to see just how easy it is.

Ingredients for Instant Pot Rice

You can make some great rice with three simple ingredients. You need:

  • 1 cup of jasmine rice
  • 1 cup of cold water
  • 1/2 teaspoon of table salt

The salt is optional. You can test the rice first to see if you need it.

Making Instant Pot Rice

First, you need to rinse the rice. Run it under cold water and use your fingertips to scrub it. Go in a circular motion when cleaning the rice. The water will turn milky when you rinse the rice. Replace the milky water with clean water and rinse the rice again. Continue the process until the water no longer gets milky. Then drain the rice to remove all water.

Put the ice and cold water in the pressure cooker. Close the Instant Pot’s lid and turn the knob to the Sealing position. You need to pressure cook the rice for three minutes on high. Then the pressure cooker needs to do a Natural Release for 10 minutes.

When the rice is done, turn the knob to the Venting position. That will release the rest of the pressure. Open the lid fast and remove the rice.

Taste the rice when it comes out to decide if you need any salt. If you do, add it, and then use a fork to fluff the rice. Once fluffed, it’s ready to eat.

Check the Water to Rice Ratio

The water to rice ratio is critical when making this recipe. If you don’t have the correct ratio, one of three things will happen.

First, your rice might come out watery if you add too much water. If that happens, it will be undercooked.

Second, the rice can come out burnt, chewy, and hard if you don’t add enough water. It will taste overcooked, and you’ll probably have to throw it out.

Third, it could come out sticky and mushy. This happens if you add tons of extra water. Measuring your rice and water will help you avoid these problems.

This rice is so easy to make that there’s no reason to put it off. Consider making it for dinner tonight. You are sure to love the flavor, as well as how easy it is to make.
