About Café Matisse
Located in Rutherford, New Jersey, in a historic building that was once a horse and buggy firehouse, Café Matisse aims for a magical and elegant experience. The main dining room is inspired by Henri Matisse and has 45 seats, with additional 25 seats for al fresco dining in warmer months. Plus, during the summer there is an additional 30 seats in the front room. Plan for a two-hour dining experience!
Typically open for dinner only Wednesday through Sunday, this year for you and your Valentine, Café Matisse is open on Tuesday, February 14th for dinner.
Magical Menu
Chef Loria crafts amazing, four-course seasonal menu options with three savory courses and one sweet course. Currently, Café Matisse is offering Panko-crusted long-stem artichoke wrapped in thinly sliced speck ham, pan-seared popcorn coconut shrimp, or white sesame cubed sushi tuna for the first course. For the second, choose from crispy Panko-crusted crab cake and chipotle honey glazed shrimp, smoked duck breast carpaccio, or pan-seared scallop.
Choose from teriyaki glazed pan-seared Rohan duck breast with miso glazed foie gras medallion, the Matisse burger, or pan-seared Chilean sea bass for your third course. Finish your meal with the dessert course, served with your choice of regular or decaf coffee or hot tea. Enjoy a praline vanilla cheesecake, strawberry parfait, or a brownie.
Reservations Required
Café Matisse requires reservations at least 48 hours in advance and can be made by calling (201)935-2995 or on their webpage. If you cancel on the same day as your reservation, you might be expected to pay a cancellation fee.
Currently, winter seating at Café Matisse includes the Main Dining Room starting at 5:15 to 7:30 p.m. and the Front Dinning Room at 6:15 p.m., and 8:30 on Friday and Saturday evenings.
